Biases to primordial non-Gaussianity measurements from CMB secondary anisotropies

چکیده

Our view of the last-scattering surface in cosmic microwave background (CMB) is obscured by secondary anisotropies, sourced scattering, extragalactic emission and gravitational processes between recombination observation. Whilst it established that non-Gaussianity from correlation integrated-Sachs-Wolfe (ISW) effect lensing can significantly bias primordial (PNG) searches, recent work Hill (2018) has suggested other combinations anisotropies also produce significant biases. Building on work, we use WebSky Sehgal et al.(2010) simulations to perform an extensive examination possible biases PNG measurements for local, equilateral orthogonal shapes. For a Planck-like CMB experiment, without foreground cleaning, find infrared (CIB)-lensing thermal Sunyaev-Zel'dovich (tSZ)-lensing bispectra local templates, CIB tSZ template. future experiments, such as Simons Observatory, correlations ISW will become important. Finally investigate whether foreground-cleaning techniques are able suppress these sufficiently. We majority effectively suppressed internal-linear-combination method total SO-like experiments less than $1\,\sigma$ statistical error. However, small arises cancellation several $2\,\sigma$ SO-like. As this likely sensitive precise modelling, ensure robustness against explicit removal methods should be used, at cost decreased constraining power.

Testing Primordial Non-Gaussianity in CMB Anisotropies

Recent second-order perturbation computations have provided an accurate prediction for the primordial gravitational potential, Φ(x), in scenarios in which cosmological perturbations are generated either during or after inflation. This enables us to make realistic predictions for a nonGaussian part of Φ(x), which is generically written in momentum space as a double convolution of its Gaussian pa...

CMB lensing extraction and primordial non-Gaussianity

The next generation of CMB experiments should get a better handle on cosmological parameters by mapping the weak lensing deflection field, which is separable from primary anisotropies thanks to the non-Gaussianity induced by lensing. However, the generation of perturbations in the Early Universe also produces a level of non-Gaussianity which is known to be small, but can contribute to the aniso...

Gauge-invariant temperature anisotropies and primordial non-Gaussianity.

We provide the gauge-invariant expression for large-scale cosmic microwave background temperature fluctuations at second-order perturbation theory. This enables us to define unambiguously the nonlinearity parameter f(NL), which is used by experimental collaborations to pin down the level of non-Gaussianity in the temperature fluctuations. Furthermore, it contains a primordial term encoding all ...

Secondary CMB Anisotropies from Cosmological Reionization

We use numerical simulation of cosmological reionization to calculate the secondary CMB anisotropies in a representative flat low density cosmological model. We show that the kinetic Sunyaev-Zel’dovich effect (scattering off of moving electrons in the ionized intergalactic medium) is dominated by the nonlinear hydrodynamic and gravitational evolution of the density and velocity fields, rather t...
